New Flagler Beach coworking space opens in iconic oceanfront building badly damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Offers entrepreneurs and remote workers office and deskspace rentals, virtual office plans and meeting rooms.
Flagler Beach, FL – Six months after Hurricane Matthew devastated Flagler County’s shoreline, an iconic Flagler Beach building badly damaged by the storm has reopened as a coworking space.
“We closed on the building three weeks before the storm,” says Ripple Coworking founder, Kristi Furnari. “We had just begun renovations when the storm came through.”
The building lost nearly half its roof and supporting structure in the storm. Says Furnari, “it looked so bad, the Daytona News Journal included it in an article about the most badly damaged properties in Flagler County.”
Now fully reconstructed, Furnari believes Ripple Coworking will become a hub of entrepreneurial activity in Flagler County.
Several years ago, Furnari, a finance professional, was looking to rent professional office space in Flagler Beach. “The only thing that was available was retail space that required five figures in renovations and had terrible light,” says Furnari.
At the time, Furnari thought about opening a coworking space, but with the economy still floundering the timing didn’t seem right.
A few years later, Furnari began meeting other professionals who were unhappy working from home offices or in rented spaces. “I kept talking to people about this idea for a coworking space, and everyone I spoke with seemed genuinely excited about it.”
So, when Furnari got the chance to purchase the building on A1A, she jumped on it. “It was a great opportunity to restore a marquis building in Flagler Beach’s business district, while at the same time creating place where entrepreneurs living a beachside lifestyle can get an affordable office and collaborate with peers.”
About Ripple Coworking
Featuring oceanfront views and a modern design, Ripple Coworking offers clients furnished office rentals, coworking memberships and virtual office plans. “It’s an ideal place for small business owners and remote workers who find it challenging to be productive in a home office,” says Furnari.
Ripple also offers conference room rentals and deskspace rentals by the hour or day. “We’ve already had several vacationers use our deskspace rentals to get a day or two of work done while visiting Flagler County with their families,” says Furnari. “You can spend a the morning with your family on the beach, walk across the street and rinse off in our outdoor shower, and spend the afternoon getting some work done.”
Office rentals start at $350/month and include high speed Internet, guest reception and free conference rooms hours. “The idea is that you can show up with your laptop and be working in minutes without having to spend a fortune.” says Furnari.
But according to Furnari, the best part of Ripple Coworking is their community. “Though we’re still in the very early stages, I’ve already seen clients help each other with online marketing, scaling businesses and managing staff. Our hope is that the value our clients get from being around their entrepreneurial peers will far exceed the rent they pay.”
According to Furnari, offices are filling fast. “We’ve only been open a matter of weeks and half of our 19 offices are already occupied.”
